Sleek geek hits reality TV peak

FROM geek to sleek, former Tamworth student Nick Hamilton and his “beauty” Candice have walked away from their reality television debut $100,000 richer.

CONFIDENCE: Nick Hamilton’s transformation during the 2014 season of Beauty and the Geek.

The former dux of Oxley High, who is now studying at the University of NSW, and his American gal pal Candice have won the show Beauty and the Geek, after a superior performance on the final quiz on Thursday night’s finale.

Along the way he ditched the braces, the ’fro, the floral shirt and long socks – and found a much sleeker pair of glasses – to complete his “transformation”.

Nick told The Leader back in October that he’d applied after seeing fliers for the show around his university campus.

“Friends said it would be great for me and it all snowballed from there,” he said.

Nick said he’d made some great friends with some of the other contestants.

Also, he said, beautiful girls were no longer quite so intimidating to him.

His family, who still live in Tamworth, were pretty excited about him being on the show, and were no doubt sharing in the excitement of his win yesterday.

Nick and Candice will split their winnings.
