Coastal charges catch up

A TAMWORTH man has been charged in connection with ram-raids on the Coffs Coast.

Police will allege the 20-year-old, who has been remanded in custody, was behind two early morning ram-raids on October 22 at Woolgoolga.

In the first incident, it will be alleged the accused and another intruder rammed a car through the front of a bottle shop on Beach St about 2.10am, before stealing alcohol and a cash register.

Police responded to the scene before a similar report was received of another incident at a service station on Solitary Island Way.

Police will allege the accused and another man threatened the console operator with knives before fleeing with a sum of cash and cigarettes.

Following an investigation, detectives from Coffs/Clarence command travelled to Tamworth Police Station on Thursday where the Tamworth man was charged with several offences.

He is facing one count of aggravated robbery armed with an offensive weapon, aggravated break, break, enter and steal, stealing a motor vehicle and larceny.
